okay i know girls think about nerds that they are fat, sleazy, sweaty, ugly with zits on forehead and have nerdy friends if any and play only boardgames and world of warcraft.

and that rappers get all the sex from th0ts and roasties.

But assuming the IT guy wasnt fat, but well built and good looking normal, interesting male

Would his country-popular or world wide popular fame (not money that comes from it) and recognititon help him wet panties in comparable level with good popular rapper/musician?

btw gamers streamers are loved by both girls and men so maybe TECH fame is not that bad

I'm an IT admin/engineer, i can't complain. They often hit on me with nerd jokes or act impressed because they assume i'm intelligent.
I don't look like a nerd. I work out 3-4 times a week, eat healthy and groom myself, play different instruments. But tech skills work well ;)

Not sure about da nerds, but if you want to give off a musican's vibe and still be in IT, pick up an instrument and learn how to play. I picked up a guitar and learned how to play through Youtube and Guitar's for dummies. Even I was amazed of the power of a guitar. Drives ladies wild. This happens naturally as when you start playing, crowds of people gather around. Wish I knew about this earlier in life. I typically play Tom Petty, George Thorogood and some basic but interesting riffs to learn. Piano is pretty good to learn too.

Musicians will Always have the edge. Their performance art itself affects how females feel. When a women is really into a particular song, style, or performance, she will actually feel on some level emotionally connected to the musician … aka instant lay when she gets in close proximity.
IT fame is more tied into his income, current or potential, and the social status that comes with his sucess…

Anything that sets you apart from the average Joe is going to translate well with women. Neither one would have to beg for sex.

I'm a semi-pro musician and I can tell you the girls can't control themselves. In Clark Kent mode I'm an IT guy (albeit with my own business).

I have found in life that intelligence doesn't really get women excited... in fact it's often a hindrance. There is a small percentage who value intelligence, but most dislike the aura from an extremely intelligent man. These men convey a seriousness and sober-mindedness that translates to "no fun" in women's much simpler minds.

Good thing I play guitar. When I play it around my girlfriend, I can see her visibly get overcome with attraction and she can't keep away from me. Guitar is good, especially if you play well. I've always found it interesting that a lot of musicians are tech/computer guys.

Smasher, for some reason I always thought you were a keyboard or piano player. Anyway...

Reminds me of that Big Bang Theory episode where the good looking physicist comes to town, and Penny completely drops all interest in Leonard because this hot guy is around. Then he turns out to be married (and a cheater), and Leonard ends up apologizing to HER because she is upset. Leonard is a great example of what not to do, even though women are always dropping in his lap for some reason (because the script says so).

Agreed. It's so weird. I was at an open mic night with some buds and people were playing and signing. Now, I cannot sing for sh!t, but I started to play What it's like, then segmented into Running down a dream and closed with Born to be bad. There was a lady there who wouldn't give me the time of day for a few weeks. Amazing how things change... Again, so strange.

Smasher, for some reason I always thought you were a keyboard or piano player.
I don’t take to keys well enough to pursue them. I’ve played keyboards on some songs in previous bands, but I find myself much better suited to stringed instruments.

I used to feel frustrated because on the computer I can punch in the notes to very complex pieces very quickly, almost without effort, on the piano roll or the staff, yet I can’t just walk up to a piano and play the same piece that took me all of 5 minutes to record visually by placing the notes.

This was another life lesson for me: Play to my strengths and don’t fret over weaknesses that are inconsequential. Of course some weaknesses need to be worked on in order to bring ourselves to a higher level, but some can and should be let go of as they can require massive time and resources.

Guitar and piano are considered to be equally difficult/easy to learn. I think for a total beginner, it's easier to start on piano, because the notes are laid out very logically, and you don't have to train your fingers to press down strings or coordinate the picking, etc. But I think to master the piano is more difficult than the piano because there is more independence of the hands, two different clefs to learn, and a maximum of 10 notes to play at once compared to six.

As for programming keyboards, I saw one band that used that extensively. The keyboard player played only minimally, but triggered off a bunch of pre-programmed keyboard parts that they played along with. I don't think many people even noticed.

I've do some Djaying when I was young.. I play mostly dance music.. Progressive House & Trance.

I can assure you, DJ's are the new Rock Stars!

Trance music is generally quite emotional music & euphoric. Girls really seem to connect with it.

Musician wins hands down!

I do both IT work, and I’m a police officer. I enjoy the money from the IT work I do, it pays very well. And I enjoy the status and perks of being a cop, i won’t lie. But I don’t make much being a cop. So my answer is for sure “do both!”

It's interesting that what I don't like about the piano is that the keys are all linear. I like the fact that I have to work two dimensions on the guitar fretboard. And interestingly, that's how it is on the "Piano Roll" view of my Digital Audio Workstation. You have time running along the horizontal axis and the keyboard running along vertical, so it ends up feeling much like a fretboard. I suppose that's just the way I think. My mind seems to reject or dislike the linearity of the keyboard.

@logicallefty Would you say that most police departments hire IT guys from in-house (in other words, they are actually police officers), or do they contract the work from outside. I was thinking of trying to tap into that market. My Uncle is a recently retired Lieutenant so I can throw his name a round a little.

At Smaller police departments the more tech savvy officers do what they can in addition to their police work, and then have a vendor they call for more complex stuff beyond their expertise. The bigger departments who need full time IT people usually hire non-police officers off the street who already have IT experience.
