My ex heartstomped me about two months ago. We were dating for two and a half years and we both started our freshman year of college this fall. She is away at school 600 miles away, so we tried long distance. I wasn't confident in myself as a boyfriend or a man in general, so my entire frame collapsed and I came off as controlling. In the beginning of October, I caught her lying to me about what she was doing on weekends. (Claim she went to bed, went out partying instead) When I called her out on it, she broke up with me over the phone immediately, saying she needs her space. I was broken for a few weeks, but I stumbled across some of the gold that is on this website and got back on my feet. At one point I had sixteen different girls messaging me with romantic interest. It was great talking to all these different girls, but I still felt that I wanted to recapture a relationship with my ex.
Over Thanksgiving break, she came home from school. To make a long story short, we hooked up each of the four nights she was home. One night, she started to confess to me how the past couple of weeks she hadn't been with any other guys. She went so far as to say her lips hadn't touched anyone else's. Then she tried to ask me back into an exclusive relationship.(She was very drunk during all of this) I declined, saying that wasn't what I wanted right now. I did say that, depending on where we both were, we could give it a shot when she comes home in two weeks for Christmas break. Since then, she has gone back to school, but she has called me every night.
I want to turn to the minds on this discussion board for advice. I still have a tremendous amount of feelings for this girl, yet she broke my trust in lying to me and I am still hurt about that. I'm hesitant to get back together with her because I don't want to get heartstomped again. And at the same time, I am jumping at the chance to get back together with her because of the amount of happiness she gave me when we were together. If you were in this situation, what would you do?
