That's a good option to. You can get a used one for 5 bucks on Craigslist or eBay if he's low on funds. FB marketplace is a good option too. Picked up an decent iPhone 8 for 300.

I literally had a chick that I've hung out with twice give me the run around today. She sent me a "hey" and I immediately told her we should hang out this weekend. She started dancing around the invite and within 3 messages I said "no worries. Consider my generous offer of wanting to hang out with a divorced 28 yr old with a daughter withdrawn.
