Not to beat a dead horse about looks, but I just wanted to (hopefully) add something. Your overall appearance will effect not only how others view you on looks only, but also everything you do. What I'm talking about here is the halo effect. If you're good looking then people will perceive you as more intelligent and more capable than someone who isn't as attractive. This also means that if you're more attractive people will perceive your personality as being higher regardless of your actual conversational skills.

Take two guys you meet, and pretend they have the exact same personality and facial expressions. Now one is a good looking guy, the other is just average. I guarantee that everyone here would view the better looking guy as more likable than the average joe.

A common myth I've heard is that game is all that matters, and while that's true to an extent, being attractive is a huge bonus. I'm not just talking about the looks alone, but the halo effect that being attractive provides. I've seen lots of guys with fairly mundane personalities get a lot of attention from guys and girls simply, in my view, because they are good looking. People want to be around others who are attractive, they are perceived to have higher social value. I can't stress enough the importance of looks in our society, and it stretches much further than simply a woman being attracted to you or not. It effects everyone perception of you, regardless of your overall personality and the gender of the person judging you.

Yeah, but "good-looking" only means that you look like a good person. Like a moral person, the kind who is honest and fun to be around, moral, has something to offer, and takes care of your body. Facial expressions and microexpressions have a huge impact on your looks. Think of David Duchovny in Californication; he's sorta neutral, and would DEFINITELY be ugly if he had a ****ty personality, but since he has a fun and loving personality, he is considered good-looking. As long as you're healthy enough to procreate and live a normal life, don't worry about your looks; worry about your personality and whether you're really worth being around. (This isn't saying to be more ****y and funny. I'm saying be honest and communicative.)

On a side note... Would an average person be able to get away with more ****iness (****y and funny) and confidence than a guy who is an 8+? Seems like when a guy is an 8+ and he is ****y and confident, he's an arrogant jerk. Anyone else notice this?
