Engaged to a Middle Eastern/ Collectivism vs Individualism

So I did the foreign bride route and got engaged to a girl I have known for years. She was born and raised in the middle east and I went there. I met her family and their generosity blew me away. They are solidly middle class but have a humility about them that was incredible. You could see that she really cared about their approval. I was scared sythless but they made me feel very welcome. This girl never once disrespected me in front of them etc. It did get suffocating though.

The trade off for traditionalism is collectivism. The family is always in your business. You will have to consult them on every major decision. Tradition is everything to these people. It took a lot of adjusting to. It made me appreciate the individualism of America. This collectivism is what keeps the women sane and grounded. Even the craziest chicks there are better than the best chicks in America.

The individualism of America is very freeing. The dark side of this individualism is pink haired feminist sluts. No path is right or wrong. Like most things in life its a pick your poison scenario.

Disrespect is not common for most men on this board. I said that because she is on her home turf and could easily be subtly disrespectful. Women usually take advantage of small changes in power dynamics.
