Anybody ever been screwed over while driving in the rain, and crashed or been crashed into? Dang, well when the DMV advises to keep twice as much distance behind another car in wet weather, just do it. I know I will be from now on.

I don't know if anyone else has this problem but I have perfect eyesight, and when it rains, ESPECIALLY at night, I have severe life issues with staying in my damn lane.
Really pisses me off. Never gotten into an accident b/c of it though.

I don't have perfect eye sight yet (I'm hoping to get lasik in a few years) but wear contacts, and I have the exact same problem as you. Although freezing rain is 10X worse. I remember about a month ago I was driving home on a 4 hour drive after taking a tour of vtech, and I just happened to be in the middle of a winter storm just about the whole way. Freezing rain not only makes driving on the roads a *****, but also it freezes up your windshield wipers, so I had to pull over every 15 min to get the ice off of the windshield wipers. A real pain, you'd think after 70 years of basically the same design they'd find something better then windshield wipers.

I've been rear ended three times by people who don't know how to drive in the Goddamn rain. It's ridiculous how much the average American motorist knows about how cars handle in adverse weather.

well if im not mistaken, i believe that the defroster feature in your AC system can at actually "defrost" windows. You know hot air blows out, the windshield heats up, therefore melting the ice. But i might be mistaking like i said.

That dosen't help much in heavy freezing rain. Believe me I was trying that the whole way home, all it did really was slow down the freezing of the windshield wipers very slighlty.

Get good tires...some ultra high performance all seasons...make a huge difference with Z speed rated tires.

No. Z-rated tires are built for cornering, dry weather traction, and responsive steering. Even all-weather Z-rated tires, while they aren't BAD, are still disadvantageous in wet weather due to their profile and tread pattern. A good set of all weathers with a non-performance profile and tread pattern are the best you can do for rain.
Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

UHP tires such as a pirelli nero zero m+s, falken ziex 512, or a michelin pilot sport A/S...will do everthing better than a set of generic/touring all season with a non performance profile. Check out tirerack.com for the logical arguement and testing.
Those 3 tires are better designed to sipe away the water to prevent hydroplanning and use various types of rubber compounds to balance both rain performance in 35 degrees as well as 85 F.
In a perfect world you need 4 sets of tires...summer dry, summer wet, fall winter wet (high silca compound tread), and set of dedicated winters.
Goodyear Eagle GSD3 are fantastic rain tires in greater than 45 degrees and heavy rain. I have driven those at triple digit speeds...no hydroplaning. Now my RE070s own the dry, but not the wet.
