If you are wondering if I enjoy the troll culture. I would be a liar if I said I wasn't interested in the psychology behind the concept. In fact, ethnomethodology was a term I stumbled across during a googlefest I had after querying about "breaching social norms", one of the first links I found was an old usenet discussion about becoming a better troll, and had a link behind the purpose of trolling to an ethnomethodists site.

Trolls generally like to stir up a commotion. Most trolls are out there to make people annoyed and get them excited about trivial things.
As is seen in sosuave, there are trolls in the community that are constructive at the same time. They establish false pretenses with negative postings and draw ire from advanced individuals set to prove them wrong.
A good troll can draw attention to a single topic for months on end before they are suspected. Others are busted the day they begin. The lame trolls are spammers, they are no use to the society and are immediately dispatched. More advanced trolls attempt to manipulate emotions and gain rapport within a community.

what would a troll be in the 'real world'? the provacative sh*t talker? the loud mouth in the bars? just curious ,if they are attention getters online, i wonder how their outter personalities are..a troll sounds like someone along the lines of howard stern or maybe the likes or dennis leary, or any loud mouth comedian...if so , then aren't trolls (by nature), the ones that naturally the ones that break social norms by being soo annoying and not caring what people think? i always thought a troll was someone that just talks crap online...
