I agree with everything except the fact that I don't think you can use EBT at Starbucks.

Having become "early retired" and doing a Chapter 7 bankruptcy to take advantage of that situation, I was able to, for a little while, qualify for EBT. (I had a nice IRA that sailed through unscathed, but for the first time since high school, I was zeroed out in liquid assets outside of the IRA.) The rules vary as per the state, but generally, the only thing that can be purchased is something that comes from a grocery store as cold. However, in my state, hot boiled seafood (and the foodstuffs that are thrown into the pot) could be purchased.

As a side note, some of the single mommies I saw at the benefits office looked a lot better than I had expected ...
