Actually, I am going through this same situation. This woman I met out last weekend, we chatted on the phone once, met up again (in a group to watch the NCAA tournament) and I called her again last night.
So, we have kicked it once already, so it's not like we haven't met up after the initial number exchange. (Personally, I think getting to date 1 is the hardest after meeting a girl out and about. Once you can get her on a date, it should be good to go).
Anyway, so we have already done something together, but I called to set up the next one, and I don't think I'll call her back. She already knows me and what I am about, so there is no need for flakiness. And, quite frankly, I can't make her or convince her to want to hang out. It's a (to use a David D quote) gut-level attraction. Either she has it or she doesn't. In my situation I doubt calling again is really going to do much. However, I could give it one more shot, because what's one more no-call back vs. a complete nexting? In the end, there is no communication. Why not go down with one more shot?
I am torn between the two ideas.
To paraphrase: Perhaps call twice if you have yet to hang out since the first time you got the number, after you have hung out a few times, I think not returning a call speaks for itself.
