If so, what is it and why do you (try to) adhere to it?
I try and follow the Objectivist ethics of rational self-interest. I hold that sacrafice is inherently evil. Good is the exact opposite; self-preservation and cultivation. I believe self-esteem is extremely important and must develop from achievement and hard work. I seek to surround myself with individuals who value their lives and are constantly trying to improve them. I despise mental-vampires and those who feed on the failure of others.
As far as what this implies on my love life, it makes quality women hard to come by. They all seem so gatdam fake. Most attractive women seem to validly think every man they meet is going to value them soley for their looks so they haven't done any work on their personality (and it is no secret as to why). Most women I meet are boring and predictable. While some men seek to make hot women qualify themselves just to sleep with them, I validly take no interest in any woman that doesn't qualify. I do not waste my time with ignorant sluts.
I like Objectivist ethics because they serve me well. Life is about making yourself happy through achievement and sharing yourself with people who do not need you to be happy.
I'm also finding Aristotle's Niccomachean Ethics to be an interesting read.
