do you ever pretend your someone else?

I read this book about half a year ago. and it was saying to boost your confidence find a character like in a movie you like. and act like him. and I guess its suppost to help you out. so does anyone here ever do that? also what do you think of this idea?

What I do is picture the ideal person I want to be, and really think long and hard about how I walk, talk, behave and interract with others.

I then try and act like that person. After a while, it's no longer an act... it become who I am.

I don't want to be someone else... only the best ME i can be.

I do a pretty good Tony Montana impression, so sometimes I do the persona around friends to make them laugh.

I do this alot and always have. Especially movies or if i see someone who is a social master I will immitate them. It definately gives you unbeleivable confidence. Ex - I saw Mr and Mrs Smith before going to a party and I really felt like I was brad pitt at the party. I was 10x more confident then I wouldve been otherwise. However, it becomes a problem when you aren't immitating and you are unsure how to act as yourself.

At this one party I was speaking in an English accent and when girls would say "ohhhh I love your accent, where are you from?" I'd say I live in a boat just west of England, in the sea.
