"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Should be a straightforward question for all you guys on here: do you discuss your personal life with your friends?

Earlier this week one of my friends was nagging me to go to some club with him this weekend and I got fed up and told him "no, I'm meeting (girl's name) that night." He and the other friends we were with were all sort of surprised that I had never mentioned this girl that I was seeing.

It just seems to me that my life is not a soap opera and I don't need to broadcast what I do to everyone, friends or not. But because people were surprised that I'd been "hiding" this (their words) I'm kind of curious, what is the norm among other guys. Are you gossipping around the water cooler about your dates etc., or are friendship and drama mutually exclusive in your life as in mine?

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

I only have two friends but they are true friends unlike most people who claim to have alot of friends when in reality most are just acqauintances. I talk to them about everything because we all know we will listen to each other and give advice without any of us feeling embarrassed about anything. That's how you know if they are true friends so yeah I do discuss my personal life with them but not with my acqauintances.

I too have 2 close friends, one that i never hang out with cause he's anti-social and likes to be home, so i usually talk to him online.

And another one that i usually hang out iwth weekly.

I usually tell them stuff that goes on in life, girls? well not really, they will either get jealous or have nothing to say about it. since theyve never had a gf in their lives.

i guess i'll talk to them about anything with the exception of girls.

or maybe i should just get some new & better friends...

Agreed! by your definition, student and professional colleagues can also fall under the aquaintance category. I have a lot of colleagues who I know through mostly my profession and educational background but all of the close friends I have are NOT in my profession. For one thing, it avoids workplace gossip! And also, you don't have to deal with "know-it-alls" (common in my profession, unfortunately) that are going to be trying telling you how to run your life especially when they haven't been there. Most of my close friends have had the same troubles I have and have been down the same roads.

Only with a select few.

Most of the people i know are haters.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
