I recently saw the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
Scott was a skinny, kind of nerdish type of kid, but somehow he compiled an impressive list of chicks he had gone out with. And he was usually the dumper. I kept wondering how it was that he managed to attract these girls. He did play bass in a band and he was kind of chill, so I couldn't say it's entirely unrealistic.

He was a serial monogamist apparently, so the hard core plate spinners here wouldn't care for that.
Also, his main love interest kept calling him the nicest guy she's ever dated, and she seemed to see that as a positive.
Great movie. A lot of girls like sensitive, intelligent, nerdy guys. The techniques so favored on this site get the type of girl that hangs out in bars and clubs. Not the ones that hang out at coffee shops, book stores, with their friends, at restaurants, with their parents, at baseball games, etc. Their "field reports" to the contrary I don't think the guys on this site have alot of experience with women. Fvcking them every once in awhile maybe but actual interactions seem to be lacking. If they did they would realize women are just as different from each other as men are. They like different things and have different tastes.

Just have the balls to talk to them and give chase.

There's more than one way to skin a cat. Even among the pickup gurus there are differences in philosophy and approach. As you note, different girls can want different things. Not every girl is going to go for the @sshole in the room.

Most of this DJ stuff is aimed at hopelessly awkward young guys who don't really have a clue what to do socially. There are different types that girls are attracted to. But the "bad boy" thing is a fairly easy thing to teach, and you don't have to have money, fame, or success to pull it off. It has the added bonus of feeding into the bitterness that so many young guys feel toward women. So it's a great selling point.

That's really all there is to it mostly. And pickup theory teaches that if the girl doesn't respond, you go to the next one. Eventually you're going to hit, so it's almost guaranteed to work.

I think you're right. It's probably a more fun act to portray as well. I don't think it's easy though. If you aren't a confident "bad boy" it is one of the roles that is easy to come across as try-hard.

I actually think the sensitive artist, hipster, fun frat guy, etc. are easier roles to play. And if you're a slightly awkward guy the girls you attract would PROBABLY be better ones for you in the long run when you actually drop your guard and start acting yourself.

But ultimately the Fail-Fail-Succeed model is the only thing that works.

For you, maybe. If you're not an artistic guy you're going to have problems portraying the sensitive artist.

The bad boy thing works well for the masses, for the least common denominator. It's also a pretty good model for the guys who just want some sex, which is probably about half the guys who come here. The other half probably would like to land some particular girl, but they are told to forget that and to just want sex instead. :) Which leads us back to the bad boy again.

I don't know about "sensitive", but I have seen the artistic type land a lot of hot women over the years.

You should see "Revolutionary Road" with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. It's about a married couple in the 50's who struggle with themselves and each other. I found the portrayal of the dynamics between the man and the woman very realistic and profound.
I'm 11 years behind but this movie is a perfect example of the dynamics of marriage and how women yearn for excitement that turns into cheating, that turns into becoming a heartless *****.

The movie the Hating Game reflects reality fairly well from a girl’s perspective. Funny movie.

Most romantic movies involve a woman with two male suitors where the girl has to decide to pick one. Generally, the guy who seems less interested in her is the one she wins over at the end. Fairly accurate representation of reality.

Even colder reality your hot girl doesn't stay hot forever even if you do win the geek lottery. I know a couple of marriages that have struggled because the guy is now fat and bald and still expects his ageing trophy wife to look hot. At some point you have to grow up and accept the realities.

Whether or not you have a side dish is up to your personal code and preferences

The mass market has the mass. Yes I have seen artistic type guys score hot birds too but I have seldom seen them them keep them unless a couple of kids came along. It's notable because it's against the run of play. I'm one of the moderates here so I'm not saying that you have to be an @rsehole to get laid. I m not and I ve had some chick in tow my whole life But an awful lot of generic inked guys with the jacked thug look seem to be doing all right.

For the movie list going way back but eternal sunshine of the spotless mind was quite cool although very weird. And I thought the DJ checklist is:

Keep health fitness and finances on point

Lead the interaction

Don't be a chump know female nature and womaneese.

Don't be a hater, appreciate women for what they can provide instead of focusing on what they can't

Spin plates

Don't see much downside in any of that.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is great. When I had lingering feelings over the 2012 ex gf experience, I visited the island to go over the memories of those times like 6 times by myself to catch glimses of me looking happy together with her. The memories fueled solo visits to island and made it feel nostalgic. Such a movie looks like it was made with me in mind. Now I feel that experience really fading out away as it did in that movie.

Reality doesn't sell movie tickets.

People want to escape reality. They want to be told "Yes, you too can be the princess who gets the gorgeous, rich prince!" and/or "Yes, you too can score the hot chick regardless of physical attractiveness and/or social skills."
Indeed

People will generally prefer to change their realities than themselves

easiest way to do this is social media , movies , video games , porn

I've met some very delusional people in many different walks of life

But certainly the "perfect partner" is often the most sought after delusion .....thats why there is so much material out there catering to it

Vast majority of it is complete fantasy because modern society is so deeply corrupted

Nobody wants to hear that though so i'll stop there

Case in point.

A movie called "She's a 10" the synopsis of this movie is basically this nerd guy that doesn't have any Alpha qualities and a dumpy job (TSA)...(no disrespect to anyone but that was the message they were trying to convey) manages to attract a hot 10 that is a lawyer turned prestige party event planner (in other words Very High Value woman) throw in the hadsome succesful ex for comparison and you get the drift (whats on the inside that counts).

I found the movie mildly entertaining. But I saw no basis in reality. Well not the norm anyway. You see mismatched couples from time to time. I am an example of thus but it wasn't by being beta like this dude.

Second Movie is Eat Pray Love/Breakfast at Tiffany's
Basically the woman falls for the guy but something is stopping her from committing completely. Then the guy says something "Logical"...and then a lightbulb goes off in her head and she has a change of heart and submits to her love and thus the man.

This kinda goes against women being emotional creatures and logic not really making much difference to them. Makes me wonder if in my last relationship if I told her how much i loved her (i never did tell her) she would have stayed instead of pulling away and playing games because she started feeling attraction for someone else.
It is called "acting" and "actors" for a reason.
Most movies are just phantasies and does not have anything to do with reality.

Well, the story is something that some guy/girl dreamt up based on fantasy.

Reality is that someone that considers themselves "high value" is going to act as such, and women tend to over value themselves in our society.
