Do I HAVE to have a "Best Man" at my wedding?

I don't really don't wanta supplicate and ask a dude friend to by my best man. I don't have that many dude friends besides the guys I work with, but I do have One good friend whose wedding I attended last year. Do you have to have a best man, and a bunch of groomsmen? I don't want a big wedding. I want to just be hitched and be done with it. I know that women want the most expensive wedding ever, but I just wanta save her dad the money. I'd be a magnificent son-in-law for that. We'd play golf together too. Win-win.

usually you have the same amount of people stand up for you, as she will have stand up for her.
most people ask brothers, cousins, and best friends.
others go it alone and dont ask anyone.

Yes I have two brothers, but I haven't spoken with them in years. A lot of my co-workers would "stand up" for me as well as my customers, but I don't want to mess up our strictly business relationships. I'm very private. I got asked by my cousin to be a groomsman 4 years ago. All I did was stand there and walk arm in arm with one of the bridesmaids. I've come a long way from that day until now, but I just want to get this stuff over with so that people will be out of my business ASAP.

Maybe DrD77. We don't really know each other that well but she's 9 years younger and I can't pass her up. I'd like a few children, and she's the perfect age for that. I'm concerned about a larger house note. Other than that, I can support us all. House notes suck, what with all the taxes, association fees, and stupid insurance. I see it as robbery buying a house.
