Wondering if anybody here has dealt with depression and how they have gone about battling it and maybe even overcoming it?

How do you get into a positive/optimistic mindset and mood?

I've realized I've been depressed and apathetic for years now and I'm struggling to break out of this.

I'm trying to be busy, develop new hobbies, get in shape. Still just feel this overall negative energy radiating throughout me and I hate it. I just want to feel joy, happiness, content, confidence.

Hoping for some advice, suggestions, guys that can relate and share something

Wondering if anybody here has dealt with depression and how they have gone about battling it and maybe even overcoming it?
1. Physical activity, excersize and physical activities
2. Diet, minimize alcohol, eat green leafy veggies, most of your fluids from water, vitamin d3
3. Have good "low drama" relationships ( most should add value and energy to you )
4. Do things you like to do. "non work" hobbies and interests that are fun
5. A good sex life. Sex increases seretonin and dopamine in the brain, reduces anxiety and reduces stress
6. A man needs goals. "A worthwhile life has worthwhile goals", while you are pursuing and working towards goals ( motion )
you won't feel "stalled" ( depressed

How do you get into a positive/optimistic mindset and mood?
"Focus on the positive and appreciate the negative". "Negative" is meant as feedback and not designed to be dwelled upon. Take the negative information and make your adjustments on your course.

The 1-6 as above. If I'm not in a positive mindset, it usually means I'm focused on things I don't like. I probably don't have goals
I'm working towards and I'm not enjoying my life. Your life should be enjoyable! I would cut off negative communications which add
to my depressed state.

There are other negative factors in your life keeping you stuck.

Negative:

1., People - your negativity might be maintained in conversations with several people, and they keep you stuck.
2. Places - certain places and sights trigger negative memories
3. Things - certain sights might trigger your negativity.

Well I do see a therapist on a weekly basis.

I was also on anti-depressant the majority of last year when I was in some seriously deep depression and despair but weaned myself off. Don't feel any different than I did after being on them several months.

It's more of just an energy sucking type depression now where I don't get any real or sustainable high, it's low energy, apathy.

I just want to beat this **** already and feel positive and happy and confident and just content and at peace with myself and my life

People get depressed with life in general because they hv faced consistent losses, as this builds up over time you lose confidence and most importantly but dangerously it becomes a cycle that's hard to break out of.

What you need to do to get around it is actually easy.

You need a win.

Multiple small wins to build up on ur confidence and break that cycle.

An example, ur objective today is to go out and help someone, perhaps buy food for 1 hungry homeless man - objective completed and that's a 100% win.

Find some small tasks that you could win 100% of the time, as this builds up so will ur confidence and from there you'll need to find things that gives you the highest probability of wins - do that.

Once all that is done, you'll feel like a winner because by then you are one.

"Momentum"... So every day make progress on your goals, after several months of it, your work will not require effort. Negativity in small to moderate doses will not slow you roll or blunt your shine.

I definitely feel like I've experienced loss after loss. Never seems like things work out or go my way, I never catch a break.

I've been doing some reading - I'm going to start journaling and part of that will be a victory log. Write 1 victory I had during the day.

Focus on some new goals and achieve the steps to work toward them. You can't control people.

If you have been for ages, seek professional help. If it's random, do your self a favor.

1. Sleep- min 8hrs daily

2. Diet - clean up diet, start fasting, spike AcH, dopamine, Gaba, Serotonin by adding herbs and spices in your diet. Read Dr E braverman book younger.

3. Lift

4. Cardio.

5. Pull baeeees

6. Cut out porn

7. Meditation- 20min daily

Post back after

Whatever you think you deserve, the universe is required to confirm your belief.

Be more specific with yourself. You want to feel confident about what? Feel positive about what? Beat what? What does an ideal state look and feel like to you?

Form a vision you're passionate about then work like hell to manifest that vision. All the little things people are listing in this thread keep you in prime shape to manifest that ideal reality.

You can't eliminate negative feedback, you can only learn to leverage the benefit of it. Life is telling you to change something, be grateful for having the mindfulness to have this insight.

Ever feel powerless to progress from negative to positive, even though you know precisely what to do?

We can not break free of this self destructive vicious cycle, under our own power.

Only supernatural power, will suffice.

We feel powerless when we know what to do because we won't take the first step.

Reading => knowledge/information - - - > action = desired results

It's important that you take action otherwise there is no results.

It's baby steps, start with multiple small easy wins. It can be anything at all, perhaps today it's time to fix that leaking faucet?

The answers are very good.

I will add this: look at your depression as a part within yourself among many other parts. A part of you that has been defeated and dissapointed.
During depression we need to force our discipline and purpose-riden parts. But also an inner attitude of compassion towards your deflated part.
Half of the equation is moving forward with vision and purpose, the other half is self love where we need it most.

You can't walk if you're dead.

People are powerless to overcome on their own.

I'm definitely taking the right steps.

I eat healthy. Fruits, vegetables, protein, healthy carbs.

I'm training for a triathlon and marathon. 5-6 days a week I'm running and cycling, unfortunately no swimming since COVID.

I have really bad elbow issues so I'm very limited in what lifting I can so, but 5 days a week I do a little dumbbell routine. 6 days a week I do core/abs.

I try to play guitar and/or piano and sing everyday even if it's just a quick 15 minutes.

I need to get back into reading for sure, mind always feels sharper when I'm reading on a regular basis.

I think I really need to do something about my career but I'm not sure what or how. Trying not to focus on work as it's not what defines me as a man and try to focus on the other things going on in my life.

Also need to somehow stop thinking about my last ex girlfriend and that relationship. I was probably depressed a bit before her but everything that happened wit her definitely blew this depression thing up and brought it to the surface.

I want to feel so damn good about myself that I feel energy wise that I am the best mother ****er in every room I walk into and nothing absolutely nothing will affect that feeling.
