I ****ed up pretty badly and now i've got a bad case of oneitis. Met this girl through mutual friends and things went pretty well. I see her around school very often too. I could tell she was attracted to me. We end up at a party together and hit it off. Lots of flirting and touching and i was almost sure something was going to happen.
The night ended without anything happening and i didn't really understand why. I was almost sure that I was at least going to make out with her based on her behavior. I found out later that the girl is completely innocent!!! As in never had a boyfriend, and for sure a virgin! She turned away all my attempts to escalate past cuddling. Got her number and told her i would reach out. Her friend was also at the party and she's had a thing for me for awhile. She saw all of it and walked her home.
This is where it all fell apart since i'm not used to dealing with this type of girl. I was genuinely very interested in her and decided to move slowly based on the advice of my friends. So instead of asking to hangout one on one, i stuck to group hangouts and seeing her around school (uni). This turned out to be a bad move on my part because the girl who had the hots for me became best friends with her lol. Any time i was around her she was ****ing right there too.
This is pretty much where i friendzoned myself. She was feeling embarrassed and acting slightly awkward after that night and I couldn't ease the tension because of the group setting. Her unease put me off my game and that's where the afc **** started coming up.
We found out we had a lot of mutual friends and I met them all and became good friends with them. Throughout this time i noticed lots of signs of hot/cold behavior. Bad signs were, lack of eye contact, flaking (1 on 1), and never initiating texts. If i texted her replies took awhile but were very long and flirty.
She also knows my ex. I learned from a few friends that my ex warned her about me before that party. Before i knew it, i had completely stopped focusing on my other plates. They got cold and dipped out and here i am with a ****ty case of oneitis. I decided to just say **** it and cut my losses. Deleted her number and started focusing on other things.
Was working real well for awhile until last friday. I was at a small kickback and she ended up being there. Drank a bit too much and history repeated itself. Lots of flirting and touching but leading nowhere. I also said some really ****ing stupid afc **** to her while piss drunk. Not full blown confession but let's say her ego is so ****ing inflated right now.
My friend is telling me to let this one go and move on. I haven't texted her in weeks and haven't spoken to her since last friday. What does sosuave recommend that i do?
Also, can anyone give me any advice in case i run into this issue again? You normally don't run into inexperienced girls at this stage in life but you never know. I just don't wanna repeat the same **** all over again.
TLDR Version:
Met a shy/innocent girl through mutual friends. Decided to take things slow and friendzoned the **** out of myself. Her best friend probably didn't help since she had the hots for me. Ex talked **** about me behind my back. Failed to lead and acted like an afc. Do i call it quits?
