My gf is on the pill and claims that it isnt 100% effective, does anyone know anything about this? her knowledge comes from friends rather than medicine specialists so i think she could have easily been told rubbish.

She insists i wear a condom as a result which im not happy about. Are some pills not 100% effective?

It's not 100% effective but its pretty close at 98%. About 1 in every 50 women will get pregnant a year whilst using it as a contraceptive.

The risk of the the pill not working is mostly in the behavior of the woman. Missing a day or more drops the effectiveness. Smoking cigarettes also drops the effectiveness of the pill. Antibiotic medications do as well - antibiotics are given very commonly and for a number if different ailments. If she forgets to take pills, there are other methods like the depo shot and the nuva ring that do not require everyday attention, but these can also be affected by smoking and antibiotics - mostly the antibiotics.

Technically, she is right, but I personally would not put up with it, if she is responsible about taking the pill. Most guys here will tell you to wrap up anyway; that is up to you. I haven't used a condom since I was in high school, always had a wife or gf on the pill, and am yet to knock anyone up, but these are your choices to make.

Another thing that i wonder about, as u say 1 in 50 a year get pregnant, how many times do they really get fvcked tho? And is it that it just doesnt work all the time for 1 in 50 women but works all the time for the other 49? ive got a very high sex drive.

right and if she got pregnant by me while on the pill, and realised because she was late. what can she do about it other than abbortion?

The 'morning after' pill is like abortion lite. That is an option.

That's good about the meds, but make sure she knows about the antibiotics. She become sick and be on antibiotics very quickly at any time. It's important for her to know.

Most anti-acne medicines are anti-biotics, some of which can reduce the effectiveness of the pill.

I'd say the the discrepancy of two percent is mostly going to be from women that forgot to take it.

Try to talk your girl into getting "the shot". They only have to get it once every few months (3 months?) and it's even more effective than the pill. You don't have to worry about her forgetting to take the pill, BUT MAKE SURE she doesn't forget to get it done every 3 months or so when she needs to. That could ruin your fun real quick. LOL

How about talking to a doctor you both trust? I my opinion it's worth shooting the extra couple hundred dollars to get you both safe.

I'm always worried about getting my gf pregnant, but even i think using pill+condom is an overkill...

If you want to be as safe as you can be without losing the enjoyment just pull out. If you never actually *** into her, and she takes her pills like she's supposed to, you'll be more than safe pregnancy-wise.

Thats if neither of you have any STDs of course, if in doubt just go get tested together.

Something to consider about the claimed effectiveness is that they will have put 98% for legal reasons incase it fails and someone sues. That could be a part of it.

Sometimes women forget to take the pill. As another user mentioned medication can reduce the pills effectiveness. The pill is also not a 100% effective and if she gets pregnant she may want to keep it and you have no say in this (even if they tell you that they will get abortion and what not prior to being pregnant, they may change their mind once they actually faced with that decision). Then there are the psycho ones who don't even take the pill, lie to you and get pregnant on purpose.

I would also be concerned with a chick who doesn't want you to wrap it up. There are some nasty STD's out there too.

Thats a red flag for me right away. If i'm about to screw a girl for the first time and she doesnt want to use a condom, i will think twice about sticking it up in there,condom or not. Theres too much perfectly clean pvssy around to risk having your d1ck rot cause of some skank.
