"The Kiss of Death Mistake"

You replay the conversation at 2 a.m. She texted back fast yesterday. Today, nothing. Was that smile friendly or flirty? What did the shoulder touch mean?

Every hour you spend decoding her signals drains your confidence and hands her the controls. Women can sense that insecurity from across the room — and it repels them.

One of the "22 Rules" kills the obsession on the spot: assume she likes you, and act accordingly. Sounds too simple. Works anyway.

Her interest tends to rise to meet your expectations. Psychologists call it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Confused about this girl

First time posting. Sorry for the long read, but this has been bugging me for a long time. Flame away.

I went complete AFC on a girl from work in October 2011 (it was pretty bad as I was new to this whole dating thing). We weren’t serious at all, but afterward, we didn’t talk for awhile. She actually brought me to this site, which is about the only thing good about her. As you will judge from this post, I still have a lot to learn.

We had a trip planned in January to go overseas with 2 other guys that was planned before AFCism. In December, I wrote her and said no hard feelings, as I wanted the trip to go well, to which she agreed. We had had no contact up to that point.

The trip went really well. We got along fine, and I thought everything would be cool with us, which is what I want anyway. Looking back at things, there were a lot of red flags, and in October she actually admitted to manipulating my feelings for her (wtf?). Anyway, I really want a drama-free workplace. I’ve moved on, and just want things to be normal.

She and I share common friends at work who do a lot of things together. Parties, get togethers, etc. She comes down for lunch to chat with two guys I work with. They both know about what happened between me and this girl (I guess no bros before hoes). Basically, they feed her attention. She talks about all her relationship crap to them, which I have to hear, and it pretty much sucks.

However, she pretty much hates me. She wouldn’t piss on me if I were on fire kinda hate. She is not even civil; no conversation, no “hi, how are you?”..nothing. I would expect this from children who are 12, but not an adult (she’s 25). I’m not the type of person to hold grudges so I try to be nice to her, and initiate small talk when I get the chance, but she doesn’t reciprocate. This makes it pretty awkward for me when I’m around her. I haven’t had this problem with other girls either. Even if we go out as a group, it’s the same deal.

Anyway, my question: What is her problem? I honestly just want to be civil with this girl and I have no interest in her anymore. We don’t even have to be friends, but it would be nice to act like adults. I know I will probably get “you are losing to her, don’t waste your time, etc”, but I’d like some insight as to what is going on in her head. Thanks for your responses.

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

Rule no.1: Don't try to "work out what's going on in a woman's head". It's a fool's errand and will expend too much of your emotional and mental energy.
No one here, although vastly experienced with women's ways, professes to know what they're thinking or why they act the way they do.
So don't expect to be given the magic bullet to unlock her head.

People defend themselves in different ways. Her way is to be a cvnt.
Accept it and give her nothing. You can still be civil and professional but don't try to be her friend anymore. It's obviously not worth your effort and it's just feeding her resentment of you.
Let it go, for your own sanity's sake.

I backup Greasy Pig's comments.

There's no point in trying to understand why a woman thinks what she does. Half the time, they don't even know the reason.

So let's just call this situation what it is - You're not dating this girl, so why bother caring what she thinks? Her negativity towards you has a minimal impact on anything in your life. Let her go. Find a girl worth your time. In fact, find a few girls worth your time.

Xenon,

The more you begin to realize that any woman who routinely rudely ignores you is NOT worth acknowledging, the more you'll be able to accept that she's actually doing you a FAVOR by keeping her twisted thoughts "ABOUT" you to her DAMN self.

I swear she does things just to piss me off, and I am going to take your advice. I appreciate it. Thanks for the feedback guys.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.
