"The Kiss of Death Mistake"

You replay the conversation at 2 a.m. She texted back fast yesterday. Today, nothing. Was that smile friendly or flirty? What did the shoulder touch mean?

Every hour you spend decoding her signals drains your confidence and hands her the controls. Women can sense that insecurity from across the room — and it repels them.

One of the "22 Rules" kills the obsession on the spot: assume she likes you, and act accordingly. Sounds too simple. Works anyway.

Her interest tends to rise to meet your expectations. Psychologists call it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I'll keep this short and sweet: I have a date arranged with a HB for tomorrow. Should I call, send a text, etc. sometime earlier in the day to confirm the date is still on? My friend says to do nothing (and if she doesn't contact me, forget it), but at the same time I don't want to potentially stand her up.

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

are you giving her a ride? if so, an easy way to do this would be to text her telling her to be ready by 6 or whatever. short and simple. it's only damaging if it's done days in advance and is unnecessarily long. keep it blunt. always.

if you're meeting here somewhere, that's a little bit harder. sometimes it's okay to be up front depending on the vibe she's given you beforehand. this is the method i prefer. a safer alternative would be to suggest a change of venue. i.e. i've got this other place i wanna show you. (restaurant name) @ 6.

by the way, the upfront method would just be to text something like, ""restaurant name" at 6. no question mark or anything, don't even imply the possibility of her flaking. cos if you do, she might capitalize on the opportunity and leave you hanging. remember, keep it blunt so you don't come off ass needy/obsessive.

in most cases she'll reply. if not, then don't go. if she makes a stink about it, say you assumed she didn't reply b/c something came up and so you made other plans. then reschedule.

I will be picking her up. She doesn't even know the first place we're going to (HB is new to the area)!

cool. sounds like fun.

another easy way to "remind" her without sounding desperate is to let her know you're going to be 15 or however many mins late if a time has already been predetermined.

also, typing these posts reminded me of how much reading into can be required at times.. something like a reminder can set the tone - good or bad - for the rest of the evening depending on how it's done.

I know what you mean. I can text her the time I expect to pick her up. HB is aware of the general time range, so maybe, "I'll pick you up at 6:15." ?

Probably should include the variable here. I asked her out only a few days in advance (our schedules don't match up great), and she is with family earlier in the day. She eagerly expressed that she is 100% down to go as long as she is back on time.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.
