What's with this word? Seems guys on here use it more and more, lately... Mostly in this form: "Women are only good for sex and companionship".
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm getting the impression that this is just a fashion word that guys use to seem "tough" to each other while they're really not... I mean, what else could a man want from a woman besides sex and companionship? You see, every act or event you and your woman take part in together could fit this 'companionship', yet people seem to use this word as if it only means superficial acts or events.
Yeah you ate pizza and fvcked... Yeah, you played a game of pool with her... Yeah, you two had coffee... I guess this is what you mean when you say she offered you companionship. But perhaps you leave out the part where you looked deep into her eyes and felt a little warm inside... Or the part where the two of you cuddled... Or any other part that wasn't superficial and actually made you FEEL something.
Coz, you know, we're all so tough
Could be that I'm misinterpreting because English isn't my native tongue, or I'm just mistaken altogether... But it just seems awkward to me when guys say this. I mean, if you'd say women are only good for sex, you would speak clear language. By that, you would mean that you shouldn't open up your feelings to women coz they'll cheat on you and break your heart and all that. So you would just keep it at sex and nothing more.
But when you add the word companionship, it doesn't make sense anymore. It's the "just" part that makes it sound kinda idiotic to me. Coz saying they're "just good for sex and companionship" implies they're not good for all the other things that you would want from them. Which would be a connection on a deeper level and allowing yourself to have some sort of feelings... But like I said, the word companionship doesn't exclude a connection on a deeper level, wo why choose that word?
It just doesn't add up... So it looks to me like people are just trying to act tough when they say it, as if they want to convince themselves that they don't desire that connection on a deeper level, while really they do...
Does anyone have some insight to offer?
