I am currently an unemployed accountant that is considering medical school. My biggest fear holding me back is my fear of spinning my wheels for 1-2 years to go for something that might not happen. I think I have an ok chance, but my biggest fear is not getting in and wasting 2 years preparing for something with nothing in return.

I can always take a temporary job and eventually get back into accounting. I am getting kindof old (25 years old).

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

What country are you in for a start? Do you already have a degree? Any work experience with a 'caring' setting? Is this a decision on a whim, or you always wanted to be a doctor, but something held you back?

I'm entering medical school September, grades permitting, so I know how you feel.

Surely you don't need to give up on the day job whilst applying?
