No doubt a similar take on this tip has been posted before, but I thought I'd share the benefit of my experience.
After weeks of tension between myself and a female friend, who I think very highly of, I decided that I was going to make my move.
As the night progressed, the voice inside my head started trying to talk me out of it:
"Think of the consequences if she rejects you"
"Think of your friendship"
"Ask her out over the phone instead. It will be easier"
"Wait until you find a better moment"
"Wait for more signals"
"You're going to embarrass yourself and lose your dignity"
"Abort plan! Abort! Abort!"
I had just given up on the idea altogether when I suddenly started listening to a different voice - one that said:
"Think of the consequences if you don't make a move!"
"She is going to lose respect for you"
"You're afraid"
"You're too nice"
"You're heading into the friendzone"
"If you don't move NOW, you might not get another chance"
"How will you feel when she tells you about her new boyfriend or some other guy who did make a move"
"When she meets this other guy, expect your friendship to take a backseat"
"You will be tormented by the question 'what if?'"
"You know what regret feels like. You don't want to feel that way!"
...and so on.
Suddenly the hesitation had gone. I didn't wait for the right moment, I created it by saying and doing the right thing, before following it up with a kiss that was very well received.
I am a firm believer in thinking of consequences before acting. However, don't forget to consider the consequences of not acting too.
