Cancelling Last Minute?

Over the summer, I tried to set a date up with a girl twice; both times she came up with an excuse like "I forgot I had guitar practice at that time." Then she got back with her old boyfriend and we stopped talking. Recently, she broke up and has been initiating messages with me (although mostly on plutonic topics like college). I tried again to set up a date, but this time she cancelled because she "forgot she had church". These excuses seem kind of lame. Is she just a ditz, playing games to make me like her more, or not willing to reject me the hard way?
How should I proceed with her? (also, not a case of oneitis on my part; she just happens to be my most viable candidate at this time, but dropping her is an option).

Drop her. Don't text or call unless she's willing to set up a date.

If she try's to text me about school, do I reply or do I not?

Don't reply to her. She's not interested in you otherwise she would have agreed to go on a date with you. It's simple math. If a girl honestly likes you, she'll make the time of day or even reschedule to go on a date with you. On the other hand, if she doesn't like you she'll come up with lame excuses like the ones you pointed out above just to avoid going on a date with you. Simple math my friend. Erase her from your life and move forward to the next girl.
