Anyone here grew up in the 90s? I remember watching this show a lot, though it might be amusing, now looking back it might been a bad influence to a lot of people because it promoted Promiscuity, lack of respect and greed. What do you guys think, if this show never existed, would Society be as better as it is now? Just a thought.

The long term impact of the 1990s TV show Beverly Hills 90210 is minimal.

There were trashy TV shows that existed before it and after it.

In the 1990s, most of its audience was 1970s-early 1980s born females. It's definitely more of a Gen X show than a Gen Y/Millennial show, though the earliest Millennials might have caught its later seasons.

it promoted Promiscuity, lack of respect and greed.
Plenty of other TV shows of the 1980s-2000s also promoted these things.

Small impact? Lol

Shows like these set the bar and made woman go after what we nowadays call " Chad".

This actually reminds me of another production from The 90s https://tubitv.com/movies/445237/do...y&tracking=google-feed&utm_source=google-feed , namely the words from 9:57-10:10

We moderns could actually all benefit from a RETURN to the sort of mindset expressed there

How so?

The more influential factor in that was tech-based dating platforms giving women abundance to demand top tier men (aka 'Chad')

That only happened for Millennial females, who were too young to watch Beverly Hills 90210 in its most popular years.

Speed Dating and classified ads for folks seeking love existed long before those tech platforms you mentioned. Same way young girls have been taking their clothes off on camera for a few quick bucks, long before OF existed

It didnt do much.

Sex and the City was much worse in terms of its effect.

I agree.

Sex and the City aired from 1998-2004 and some of the earliest Millennial women (think 1981-1984 births) were affected by it. I even made a thread in 2023 about a never married, childless woman born in 1982 who cited Friends & Sex and the City as being major influences on her views on mating and relationships.

Rollo Tomassi even commented about this on his first day as a SoSuave forum member in 2004. This was a few months after the final episode of Sex and the City aired.

Gabrielle Carteris was 29 in Season 1. Many of them were well into their 20s.
So it is with all these "teen" soaps. At present, the primary cast of f-cking Gossip Girl(which is hardly ancient history)are 40 or getting pretty damned close to it
