What's the best way to handle the situation when a girl says she wants to take a break?

I see it as she wants to break up and will use it as a trial period to make sure it's the right decision.

Should you give her the time?

Should you just end it and force her to deal with the loss?
 

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

There can be many reasons why a girl would say they want to take a break. It depends on whether there is anything which leads into it, and how your relationship is with her at the time.

I tend to withdraw when something upsets me, or if I feel the situation would be better if there is a cooling off period to not having any contact, so as to cool things down a bit and to have some space to think about things more clearly. That doesn't necessarily mean a breakup.

I would suggest give her some space and time and not contacting her for a week and see if she would come back after the break. If she doesn't, it would be better to at least leave her a message after a week to show that you care, but not giving her any pressure.

If you don't contact her at all and she thinks that you don't care, the no contact would probably become permanent and become a real breakup even if it may not originally mean to be that way.

Means it's over and she wants to date other people. It's a cop out. The easy way out. Trying to avoid being direct, up front and honest with you. Dump her and find someone new.

OP - tell her you want to take a permanent break. Never speak to her again. AND WHAT EVER YOU DO - don't let her know you're upset about it (if you are). Just be blunt with her and straight to the point.

Don't even say permanent. Just be polite and say, "yeah that's probably a good idea."

Don't show any emotions, other than happiness, or indifference.

Exactly this. Grab everything of yours that is at her place and tell her to come grab her stuff... keys, clothes, the lot.

Say "ya you're right, See ya" then go no contact and move onto your plates on the side. (Assuming you do or you're gana be oneitised) She'll be baffled that you could care less and wander back to you as a FB. Other than that, the relationship is OVER for the time being and you need to eject immediately to save yourself from castration.

Agree that it is, in fact, a good idea, and go ghost on her. If she never contacts you again, so be it. Don't let it be a game with her rules, that's not cool.

Whatever you do, do NOT plead, beg, or whine about why she wants a break.
 

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

You absolutely have to end it and unless you get a hotter woman and she comes back it's over.

Make it seem like it was your idea and you didn't even notice that she said to take a break.
