Quick Question: I do my incline on the smith machine, the one where it slides up and down and has has the clasps where you can put it at any level. If anyone knows what im talking about, do you know the approximate weight of that bar so i can fill out my workout journal i just started :).....im assuming its the usual 45 bar, but just want to make sure

P.S anyone know what a workout journal should include: i have Bodypart, exercise, sets, reps..

It's not exactly 45lbs. I think it's something like 56, but it is calibrated and some of the weight is offset by the fact that it's no free-weight, so I just use 45 in all my calculations.

I can't answer the question but for me, I don't count bar weight on the smith machine. If I'm logging I'll just write, "245lbs smith."

It's usual to be able to lift quite a bit more on the smith machine than free weights, so it important to make the distinction. Benching a barbell with 2 45's on each side DOES NOT EQUAL a smith machine with 2 45's pm each side.

As for the journal, include rest (like Kerpal said) and I think the most important thing is perceived intensity. I use a scale 1-10. You'd be suprised how an excersice can be perceived as a 6 one day and a 9 another.
