There is no real reason to ban the avatars, personally, 'there gay' and 'childish' dont cut it....


there cool, bring personallity to your posts and give the site a warmer feel.. not only that iddiots with porno avatars can be banned and if bandwidth is the issue, use off-site avatars only.

I am a genious.

admins enable avatars before i run u into the ground any further ;-)

Actually, now that I think about it...it honestly doesn't make much sense not to have avatars. They don't take up a lot of space, it would be easy to have some to select from or allow people to resize their own images and upload them to their profile.

Sure, there would be a potential for lameness and what not...but there's one forum I belong to where the members are incredibly creative with the avatars. I've seen some incredibly cool ones. Maybe Allen will consider allowing them on a trial basis just to see how it goes. I mean, what harm will it do to give it a try? There are lots of creative posters on here and I bet they would come up with some damn cool avatars.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

- They're gay and childish.

- They clutter the forum.

- They're an eyesore.

- There's a bandwidth issue.

- For off-site avatars, there are issues such as those of us who access this site while at work who don't want to get nailed for "looking" at objectionable material on the 'net (one guy I know has an image (a perfectly normal one) in his signature line that is linked from his own homepage, which is called "pornman.net" or some damn thing... so then the filter caught the word "porn" and I had to deal with our Information Security department, which is unpleasant).

- I don't wanna have to deal with posters who put swasticas, political images, porn, "tubgirl"-type images, advertising, seizure-inducing flashing .GIFs, etc. in addition to all the other sh*t that posters do in the current "text-only" environment.
