"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Do any of you feel different when you ask out a girl compared to one that asks you out?

When I ask a girl out I feel like I am masterminding my plan. Figure out the date and what were going to do. Make sure I open the car door and subsequent doors. Im under stress to impress her. Good conversation, light touching, etc.

If a girl asks me out though I feel different. Im actually going out tonight with a girl that asked me. Its a different feeling. Almost of flattery. Like I dont have to try as hard to have her like me. Because, obviously she asked me out. Yeah, Im still planning dinner, etc. Make sure I impress her, but it feels like half the battle is already won.

In reality though, I should be under the same amount of stress. Its different and actually kinda nice to be asked out. Wish me luck!:D

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

It seems to work out better when I girl asks me out...and even better when she indirectly asks me (to get me to ask her out). Maybe it's just me.

GigaloDJ, I agree it is a mans job but when a woman asks you out. When she seeks you out and more or less suggests you go out. It seems a lot easier on the date. It is as if you can act more like yourself instead of trying to impress.

I agree. When a woman suggests a get together, it makes everything so much easier.
