It is, however, deeply transphobic to decide that you never want to date any transgender person ever, and the choice to draw such a line is rooted in ignorance, fear, and disgust of trans people.

The first was where we disagreed and yet managed to tolerant a diversity of opinions in relatively good humor... a kind of enlightened skepticism was cultivated about ultimate matters here..

The second became the attempt to institutionalize this diversity of opinion. This kind of tolerance becomes intolerant of opinions that are reckoned conservative by its criteria. In theory it is tolerance, but in practice quickly becomes intolerance.

This can only last so long due to the nature of reality [everything is nice in theory]. When it comes crashing down, the conservative reaction could be brutal, almost fascist.
