That is the way that it is at my kids school. I told them to fight back. That I didn't care about the consequences. My youngest has bloodied a bully's nose and bit another. You shouldn't have to be an "alpha male" to be a confident, sexual man. Being a confident, sexual man should be baseline masculine behavior. The problem is that the baseline male in our society has dwindled down into such a pathetic, passive mess that guys think they need to look up to some stereotypical "alpha male" character to be someone. All they have to do is embrace their masculinity.

I've been watching some early episodes of Star Trek recently, which originally aired in 1966. Even though the show is supposed to be futuristic, the difference in gender roles between then and now is striking. Captain Pike doesn't want to have women on his bridge, and both he and Captain Kirk complain about having a female yeoman. Kirk in particular is a very masculine character. When you compare the men then with what is expected of men today, it's really an eye opener.

As for the alpha male, he is pretty much described on these pages as a man who doesn't really care about anyone but himself. The stereotypical alpha male is also much abused in the manosphere. For those reasons, I couldn't care less if he goes extinct or not.
