Something as subtle as "can you throw this away for me"?

Is this a subtle test women do to know where they stand in the relationship? Do they want know if your submissive to them or not?

Different multiple women have asked me this multiple times in class rooms, hotels, even in my own house.

What's the deal? The nice guy in me (which usually prevails) does what they ask, and the jerk in me wants me to put them in their place and ask them if they're physically handicapped.
