"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

1) Go the opposite direction down the aisle that she is. After the third time passing each other, say "OK...are you going to talk to me, or are you just a stalker?"

2) Say "You know it's not good for you to be here in the frozen food section. You could MELT all this STUFF."

3) Meet her in the juice aisle, hold up a bottle of Welch's and say, "Hey, can I buy you a drink?"

Or, you could just ask her if the brand of cereal she's picking is any good, and take it from there.

Ironically, I once asked a woman I wasn't really attracted to this very question because I was seriously wondering. Then I couldn't get her to shut up and keep shopping. Wow. Proceed with caution.

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

Re:

Scot McKay, thanks for your response. And to the poster "Skirtchaser," I found your response to my post quite offensive. This is a free country and I have the right to dress anyhow I want. Neither you nor anyone else has the right to judge me on the basis of what I'm wearing. In addition, you're not in every woman's mind to know what she might be thinking. As far as the big black guy stereotype goes, I personally don't even consider myslef that big at all. I may be kind of huge, but that shows more when I wear certain kinds of T-shirts and stuff. I'm only about 178-180lbs and 6'0...there are guys who are way bigger than that...I don't know, I don't really consider that as big.

To the other poster who said he's not into big butts, I here you man, and I definitely respect that. But I can't help it. I love women with big butts...if only a few more of them who fit that description were humble. I remember a MILF I had talked to several months ago who had three kids, even though things didn't work out because each time I tried to set up a date with her, her kids held her back. She was Hispanic and I met her at a mall. Her butt and hips were so big that when she sat on one of the seats at the food court, which were all really small to accomodate her considering the size of her ass, I actually thought she was going to break the chair...and I found that very appealing and attractive. I just couldn't help talking to her.

My ex told me that black guys scare her. I didn't ask her to elaborate, but I assume it's the stereotype. She's asian, btw.

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

To add something on-point:

I do a lot of cold approaching, and I find grocery stores to be awful. Many women move fast, and it to me is much more difficult to maintain a conversation in a grocery store than in a regular store (Target, Wal-Mart) and regular stores are more difficult than bookstores.

Having said that, what makes anything easier is practice. So when you see that HB in the paper towel aisle, APPROACH. Do let any opportunity pass you by. But I think the mainstream "dating" articles you see here and there about meeting people in grocery stores are drivel. There are much easier daytime venues.
