A long time ago, I went to look at a used car. I looked at the oil, and it was like chocolate milk. I tried to explain to the young woman that her head gasket was failing. She was furious and drove off in a fit of rage, because she thought I was trying to take advantage of her. Then the car broke down about a mile down the road. I only know that because her mother, whom I had never met or talked to before, called me the next day to apologize profusely for her daughter. "She's a hard working single mom and all she needs is a good man in her life."

The last time a mom tried setting me up with her daughter was a few years ago when I was just starting my lawn business. She was one of my first customers. She hated her daughter's current boyfriend and tried to talk me into going on a date with her. I was married at the time and I don't think the daughter wanted anything to do with me anyway.

Probably, can't remember specifics, but when I was single (or "between girlfriends"), people in my social circles would often try to set me up with someone.

These girls were chronically single for a reason!

Usually it's because their standards are way too high.
Sometimes they are just not feminine (especially the career focused).
Or they simply don't want a relationship, for whatever reason (eg they haven't finished playing the field, or they're still getting over their last breakup)

{Did end up in a relationship with one.
Sincerely hope she found her prince charming.. because she's allergic to cats!}

On a couple of occasions we talked about the attempts to ship us and decided that we didn't mesh and could have a laugh about it, then go our separate ways and not waste any more time/effort.

But generally, I became very disillusioned at the abysmally low standards in women my social circles expected me to have.
Some things have always been the same..
