Anyone been to Phuket in Thailand?

Yeah I was there two years ago. The weather was amazing but that's about it. You have to fight your way through hordes of German and American sex tourists, and ladyboys just to get to the beach. If you are set on going there I highly suggest renting a motor bike and going to the less densely populated areas.

If you like ladyboys you'll love Phuket. Other than that there's no other attractions, the beaches over there are the same as anywhere else.

If you care about culture, go to Chiang Mai. Lots of temples, people are relaxed and not trying to rip you off all the time, lots of things to do (and you can meet RELAXED tourists).

If you're more the party-hard flatrate-boozing kind of guy, yeah, go to Phuket or one of the party islands (ko phi phi or what was the name).

Whenever the Admiral gives the Fleet the option of where to tie up for leave, Bangkok or the Phillipinnes, the latter wins, every time.

Been there, it's crazy. Full of brothels, strippers, ping pong shows, Russians and rock n' roll. I loved it.



Go to Koh Phi Phi if you can, it's beautiful and relaxing.

I'm there right now. I think its pretty good. Yes there are those things as mentioned but not as bad. I do find you also get lots of people asking you to buy stuff as you walk past shops. Apart from that its quite a relaxed atmosphere, the whether is good, everything is really cheap and it's a beautiful place. :woo: :woo:
