You may well be right. I've been wanting to see the rise of a strong third party for years, just so we have more choice. The problem in the past has been that third parties have drawn mostly from the Republican party. The Democratic base is too solid, and is getting wider.
We don't necessarily need a third party. Not when we have "third party" candidates running in the big two.
To be fair, Perot shot himself in the foot and never recovered. He stopped himself, basically.
