Ankle Strains?

I muffed up my ankle pretty badly last night using one of the best tricks in the book: the ol' "Falling-blindly-off-a-curb-because-you're-a-total-retard."

What fun!

Question is, How can I, uh, "make it better"? Sure it'll take time, but what do you guys do to alleviate the whole shebang? What types of things can I do that'll speed recovery?

RICE method for sprains.

Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

And take an NSAID (Non-steriodal anit-inflammitory drug) (that's ibruprophen or acetaminophen) for pain.

The Ice-Hot treatment....submerge your foot in a bucket of ice....and leave it there as long as you can tolerate...then take in out...and apply heat to it...(if you don't have a heat pad...get some hand towels...wet them...and put them in the microwave...to heat them up....)....repeat the process...10-15mins Ice...then 10-15 mins heat....should reduce the swealing...also try not to put too much weight on it when walking...and keep it elevated at night time...to minimize blood flow to the ankle....

Any time guesstimate here? 'cause I've been taking cold showers every day here for a long time, now, and I... well, I "can tolerate" quite a bit :D

EDIT: I mean an overall time guesstimate (IE, How long is best? An hour at a time with two-hour breaks inbetween, or a marathon 16-hour-long session once a day?)

Do it for an hour...2Xs a day...once in the morning and once at night....
