Ancestry and DNA Testing

Some people here may not give a darn whats running through their veins but I have always wondered my ancestry and blood line where it started from where they traveled etc.

Last names give you places of origin and through different marriages and generations there might have been secrets kept because of racist beliefs but DNA will never lie to you from what I hear.

With that in mind I am going to do an ancestry DNA test and being male this will pick up both sides of the family markers I am told.

I saw where actress Eva Longoria the Desparate Housewife star is 3% african.

Anyone here familar with the ancestry DNA test and have you done them how were the results or is it a gimmick?

I just quickly read through the NG link, and just want to metion that the $99.95 will only test your X or Y chromosome. There is an additional $89 upgrade fee to test the other.

Just wanted to point that out in case you missed it - not saying it isn't worth it or anything.

This is nice and all... but we don't have enough DNA samples from the past. I'm not sure how accurate they can make this without digging up and cataloging thousands of cemeteries.
