Master Don Juan
Well, I just got back from spending 2 weeks in England and I learnt quite a bit from my trip. I'm a hardened boston boy so it was quite a shock to see all these diligent patient English folk basking in their arrogance (I love English arrogance). Here are some differences I noticed between the 2 cultures.
1. ****y/funny not nessecary for djing in Europe - Hell, alot of people don't even smile when they talk to you....it's not that they're depressed, they are extremely friendly, it's just the way they do things. I made a huge blunder trying c+f on my cousin's gf's friend and she did not dig it AT ALL. I felt game surging through my veins while I was talking to her but eventually I found out that my american ****iness made the girl very uncomfortable later with all my 'make-out talk'. I vowed to tone it down for the rest of the trip.
2. Talking politics/ serious subject matter is OK in Europe - As a matter of fact I couldn't find ANY girl who didn't want to talk about politics or war with me. Maybe it's cus I'm American and they wanted all my George Bush insight but I overheard many other people talking politics together. It didn't bring the mood down at all because English are master conversationalists and don't feel the need to be 'up tempo' 24/7. Whenever I talked with people they were concerned with what I had to say rather than how I portrayed myself.....very refreshing
3. Cold approaching is hard as hell in England - I tried 1 cold approach while i was at the t-tube in London with my family
I walked up to her and asked how she was doing and where she was headed....at first she seemed confused like what do you want from me, then when I asked her what she was doing for the weekend she got very nervous and talked about how she was 'very very busy with her family' so I said ok and let her walk away in the crowd. Ouch. This girl was pretty cute, good enough for me at least
....but i sensed by her looks my approaching her was a foreign concept.
I did not get any action on this trip because i spent most of my time reuniting with family and siteseeing with immediate family....but I did start convo with alot of people guys and girls which is how i got this information. People are less judgemental over there and generally alot more laid back (ie. the train was 20 minutes behind schedule from paddington to london and only people complaining were Americans
) I love England but I have been conditioned to DJ as in American style so I have to stick with it.....
