A "confident," "mature," and "respectful" person would be seen as boring here.

If you're not the type of person who takes the time to test and push the limits imposed by other people, then you're not normal. You're boring.
For those who don't know, here in Italy, it's generally accepted to exceed the limits imposed by others, especially in jest, and so playful disrespect is always seen as a "duty" and never as an "exception."
Do you Americans, or anyone writing from other countries, really mistake being respectful for being boring?
Given this, since I shifted my behaviour from an "italian" one, to an "american" one, and I've created an hybrid, which is a WIP actually, I've noticed women are attracted in a different way.
That could be totally subjective, but I will keep progressing the american way of doing things, like being respectfull, diligent, emotionally stronger, but for the things like humor, kindness, being funny, I'll always keep my italian nature
