If you read the book, you realize that everybody is playing a game of deceit whether they realize it or not. I have consciously played games, yes, and I can't possibly imagine anybody who has been in a relationship hasn't.
I am responding to the “as you mature…” part of this thread.
When I was younger I relied on, needed guidance. In a very real sense I needed to be told what to do, how to think, hell, how even to BE.
As I have gotten older (I’m not saying “mature”), I gradually began to see the veils fall away, the curtain hiding the “wizard” was pulled back to reveal just a man, who, actually, really was a wizard after all, wasn’t he?
Sources like 48 laws help to pull the veils back. Broadly, any inspirational source does the same.
The danger I see is when people confuse the materials that enlighten them with the true source of enlightenment: themselves.
Many never “mature” out of that need to be told what to do, how to think, and how to BE. They follow a hundred different gurus except the only true one: themselves.
I despise “inspirational quotes” for this reason but do list one from Thoreau:
“I belong to a congregation of which I am the only member”.
For me this means that even while sitting/kneeling in a church/mosque/synagogue/shrine amongst a thousand people, truly, you are the only one present.

Having been involved in business for the past decade I could write a book about manipulation.
When you have two different "good friends" take you to the cleaners for over $100k EACH, you had BETTER BELIEVE it will change your perspective on the subject.
The house example.....I wouldn't even think twice about someone doing that to me. I see that kind of sh!t on a daily basis.
I've been fukked over pretty much every way you can imagine, but I am still a firm believer in working WITH others rather than against them. You just have to know how to put together a win-win situation and watch your a$$ to ensure that the other party is living up to their side of the bargain. And since I have been robbed so many times I'm at a point where I can more easily spot red flags.
All that stuff aside, I do know that part of being human is about ensuring your own survival, and there is no doubt that some of the stuff I do doesn't equate to a zero sum....one party benefits more than the other. Call it amoral or whatever, but I have no problem with having a bigger piece of the pie than the next person. The way I see it, no one is begrudging a heart surgeon for making $500k per year, so why should they have a problem if I find a way to do the same? Of course society in general might view it differently, but I know better.

I worry about the opposite people LMS does; the honest ones playing by the rules being taken advantage of by those that don't. I know real life examples of this; great men that are suffering everyday waiting on God to deliver them from their turmoil. One of them tells me, "I'd rather "mount my treasures in heaven"" and i'm thinking i'm glad to hear that because you sure as h*** ain't mounting them here.
