Alright, so I got this car.. now I need some SOUND!

Well, now I have about $160 I want to spend refurbishing my sound system. Firstly, I want subwoofers, and an amplifier (I will make my own box for the subs).

No idea about much of anything, all I know is I want a system that will tear your face off FOR CHEAP.

Any ideas?

You don't want to go CHEAP when it comes to a car system.

How big is the trunk...? I can't see it to good from the pics. From what I can tell it look's pretty avg, size. I'd go with two 12's. And whatever you do.....don't buy those gay a$$ speakers from wal-mart!

Me and my friend built a box for his p3 15.....it was a B*TCH to build but kind've fun. If your going to build your own box make sure you get some good calk and get the right dimensions for the holes. It took me and my friend about three days, that was working about two hours a day.

I prefer taking it to a stereo shop that specializes in instillations but you can go for it if you want.

You need to save up more money. $160 will basically get you a cheap to mid-range deck and installation if it's a cheaper one.

So very true Rockfords are the best. I have 4 regular Rockford speakers in my car and they sound great, even without a sub. Anyway just so you know when I bought my head unit and 10 disc MP3 Cd Changer 2.5 years ago it cost about $630 just for those two items at Circuit City and about 1.5 years I bought my speakers at Best Buy and they cost $99 for a pair.

I wouldn't say that. Pre-1999 Jetta's were cool, and I like the looks of that body style. After 1999 they switched to the current body style, and while it's still a nice car, it's known as more of a girl's car. But the one's before that look manly.

I actually wanted one myself, but I took my dad's old car instead so I didn't have to buy a car on my own (my parents weren't gonna pay for it).

VR6 Jettas have a little bit of punch to them. Not bad cars at all.

You'll need a lot more money for a nice sound system than 160 bucks. In my Camaro I paid 300 bucks alone on the head unit, and it was a midrange Alpine.
