I was just wondering. I did quite some cold approaches in the couple of last weeks. How much small talk does one have to make before asking for a number? Is there a rule for that? I sometimes have the feeling I'm asking too soon.

Using a false time constraint decrease the talk time.
As a rule.......you gotta build towards the exchange info phase.....too fast and you inject the BULLDOG APPROACH (just running right up to her and beggin for her number)......not literally silly...too fast triggers that protection sheild from women.
So when U see some IOI's, smoothly trantion into the number close.....You are a busy guy with things to do. Get digits and move on.
3 minutes is a good start.
