Can someone please explain to me how 1 year spent on 2014 UZ224 can be equivalent to 1100 years on earth? How could this work? If I go there somehow, and spend 1 year, that means here on earth the year is gonna be 3116? I don't fvcking get it!

one year is the length of the time the planet goes around the sun. one earth year is equal to 1/1136 of 2014 UZ224's year. So if you lived and earth's lifespan on 2014 UZ224 you would only experience maybe a quarter of one of their seasons' assuming you had plenty of air and food and toilet paper to last you 60 years or so.

Just of out of curiosity, are you thinking of moving there?

Are you sure it hasn't something to do with dark energy and space time stuff? Because I was led to believe that it is kind of like living near a black hole, time goes slower?

Spacetime is very relative, but it's based on speed. When your speed approaches the speed of light, time will slow down. But that's not the case with that planet. It just takes 1100 years to do one orbit.

It fascinates me that when you're looking at the stars you're actually looking back in time. The light you see now started on its journey towards earth many many years ago.

The black hole metaphor is that spacetime is like a blanket several people are holding out, and a black hole is a bowling ball tossed into the middle of that blanket. Spacetime can curve. It may also be able to fold. If you just folded the blanket so one part touched another, you could travel in what amounted to faster than light travel without violating the rule that such as thing is not possible.
