"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Well, this past Saturday I was at a party at my buddy's place here at college. Everyone in attendance was associated with the drumline here at this University - some players, staff, pre-rookies, girlfriends, etc. I marched here for 4 years, and was the drum captain this past season, so as a result, this crowd is one in which I can be an alpha.

I'd just refreshened my booze, when I see my buddy's girl and her roomate, an 8.5 and 7 respectively, comin' across the lot, towards the party. My buddy's girl sees me, and damn near knocks 3 people over to come give me a hug. She's talking quite quickly, and generally giving off signs that she's excited to see me, without being too obvious.

Her, her roomate, and I end up inside talking by the kitchen, away from the crowd. They are both going on about what they're doing this sumemr for work - Anna (the g/f) is a lifeguard, and Sarah (the roomate) works at a fine wine and chocolate shop. In short, Anna makes me promise I'll come swim with her at work, go buy a bottle of wine from Sarah, and come drink it with them at their place this week. She made SURE I had her number correct as I was entering it into my phone.

Now, don't get me wrong, I know those are all good signals; I'm not blind. However, Anna dates a guy I used to march in the drumline with (not for 2 years though, he left the line), and Sarah is single. Sarah was more of a female AFC, which is fine, shes a nice girl, and I'd go for her in a hearbeat. Anna is such a little vixen though - she was goin' on about how I, "just HAVE to feel this new silk bedsheet set I just bought!" It was hot, trust me. Yikes.

Anyone want to weigh in on what exactly they think these two are up to? I'd go for either one if I met them by themselves in a class or wherever. But why were both so damn excited and flirty with me? I can't imagine there's the makings of both of them at the same time here, but I'd like to know what you guys all think of this. Weigh in, would ya?

Gracious! :D

"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

It sounds like you're in bro, but don't forget about your buddy - if she's offically his girlfriend then you should be going for her friend Sarah. Yeah, I know you're thinking about the wine and the swimming and the silk sheets, but he's your buddy, she's his girlfriend, and that should be repected...but damn, I admit that's some tempting sh*t right there....:D

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
