I'm a fan of Selena Gomez, she seems like a very nice, down to earth woman. I mean, I don't even know her and could probably fall in love with her.

In any case, she got married last year to a record producer. She is 33 and he is 38. They seem to be really in love and want a family with 3-4 kids. Only problem? Selena can't carry kids of her own due to medical conditions. So they are talking about adoption or surrogacy.

Question:

If you had no kids, would you marry a woman you were in love with if she couldn't have kids? Would you consider adoption or surrogacy?

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Yes. I was in a similar situation before — my ex had Turner’s syndrome, and we still connected well enough that I proposed. It wasn’t her condition that ended things, but other compatibility issues that came up later.

At the end of the day, being with someone you genuinely connect with matters more than whether they can have children naturally. If that’s the right person, options like adoption or surrogacy are still on the table.

As you get older, this becomes even more common anyway, so it’s something most people have to think about at some point.

Not marrying someone does not prevent you from loving them. Why introduce the government into your relationships? I think as people get older, they don't marry. They are just "boyfriend and girlfriend".

Well...yes, but for me a woman who cannot or does not want kids is my ideal woman and a pre-requisite for me to even consider marriage.

I know I'm not speaking for most men here though. I think most men would be okay with it if they really liked her enough, they'd find a way to make it work.

Shouldn't the real question be, would you marry a woman who wasn't young and fertile?

Wouldn't matter if she (or you) didn't actually want kids, the fact that she's young and fertile is what's important.

At least according to what I've read here. Please correct me if I'm mistaken, I'd actually love to be wrong about this.

I don't have a divorce certificate from my previous marriage although I divorced my ex-wife. I don't expect to remarry again because I don't have a lifestyle that includes women in that way in the first place so why bother right? As to other people, it's their life so I can't answer for them.

Turner's Syndrome is Karotype XO, and therefore almost always infertile.

Sure. You could also say shouldn’t the real question should be: would you marry a woman who couldn’t get pregnant easily? Lots of ways to phrase it,

it does matter if the man wants kids. If he doesn’t want kids, he wouldnt marry a younger woman. He probably wouldn’t marry at all.
