Hi Duke,
We have a cradle to grave welfare system here which is very costly for the people who do pay tax,but keeps the riff-raff from the barricades....Welfare is an alternative to employment,the recipients pass their time quite happily,watching TV,socialising with mates...Oh and of course the clever ones work in the Black Economy,and this is where AI will make a difference because the brave new World will have no cash.

2) Areas dependent on immigrant labor in healthcare will face labor shortages, leading to reduced quality of care.

Back in another time, I remember that a USA man could keep clean and work hard. Construction/Drive/Load/others, not education work, just effort and good character. The result was enough money to support a family, and even maybe have a small boat parked in your driveway. Beer in the fridge if that is what a man likes.

Not every man is capable of being an engineer or scientist. He has effort, but genetics to not give him the talent. Good/honest men, well at least usually. Its not ok to come take from the locals.

There is no labor shortage, if the corp profits could can pay a living wage, but us share holders don't allow it. Its not the type of work the USA men don't like its the low pay relative to environment. They want middle class for hard work, same as the fathers and grandfathers.

I have empathy for men that get there hands and feet cut off due to political problems. At the same time when they come kill my family due to competition I would prefer to not have them. Probably the solution is more birth control in places that people do not want to live.

Maybe its ok to send the cute women, but not the dudes....

no, the pasty ones used to hang out at contract labor companies. if you need guys for something you want and hired them for the day. accounting for inflation, it was higher pay than the Depot dudes.

Demographic collapse of the US is what destroyed the middle class. It's the inevitable fate of every industrialized society, which makes it not really anyone's fault. Immigration is a temporary fix that will never solve the long term problem, which is too many old people and not enough young workers to pay for them.

Back in the day, the American middle class flourished in a post-World War II era, as the world rebuilt and caught up, though 60% of the population faced second-class status. Today’s world is vastly different from that time.

I don't think that is the only thing that has destroyed the middle class. Its American factory work shipped overseas. Its inflation. It's corporate greed. It's more big business that can control the markets(labor price, product price, etc.) and buy its smaller competitors out all for market share. It's white native born Americans not wanting to do the work.

I spent much of my career as an engineer inside of manufacturing facilities. We used to have over 30 different nationalities represented at a truck manufacturing facility I worked at. It was split pretty evenly between black, white, Asian, and Hispanic. Most were immigrants, there were no illegals. There were general assemblers making $80K and supervisors making $130K and that was 15-20yrs ago. If it wasn't for the immigrants there wouldn't have been enough workers to get the trucks built.

My current business involves constructing commercial buildings and I can tell you we wouldn't get anything built if it wasn't for illegals immigrants. I am grateful for them. And yeah there was a time illegals worked for less than a native white guy would but that hasn't been the case for many years. These illegals make good money swinging hammers, hanging sheet rock, and pouring concrete. And you won't find very many white guys willing to do it. Many make more than the general contractor does.

If you want to blame one single entity, then go after the greedy fuhkers that lead American corporations. Thats how it all got started. McDonalds, Walmart, Big 3 Auto Makers, Amazon, United Health Care, DR HOrtonHomes, HOme Depot/Lowes for destroying the middle class. Notice they are all related to housing, food, vehicles, and healthcare. 4 things we all need. There's a lot of price gouging going on ever since covid.

How the money is divided is whats changed. In the hey day of this country, workers got good wages and had excellent pension plans and we produced a lot of goods here which made a strong middle class. As companies got greedier all of that dried up. Societies love for cheap products also led to our demise. Next the ma and pop business model evaporates. American owned Factories are getting built outside our borders. There is a big push for free trade and NAFTA is formed.

Now we set up our factories outside our borders and make other countries more prosperous. Its about 10-15% less to build a product in Mexico as it is in the USA. By the time you pay freight to get it back to the USA to sell it you have consumed most of that 10-15% you saved. Whats different is you gave a Mexican worker a chance at a good wage instead of an American worker. You also gave money to the Mexican government so they can build infrastructure. Doesn't make any sense.
