So What? I've never run into anyone who had any connections with their Sorority sisters or Fraternity bros outside of their chapter and 4 years of their pledge year. It's no different than joining Rotary, or the Elks club in your hometown. The sooner you figure out that there are good ways to develop a social circle faster, the better off you are going to be.
You EARNED your reputation. Deal with it. Own it, and if you changed explain how if they bring it up.

Some of the frats maintain that hierarchy until they die. To an outsider it looks like high school games but they are still doing it.
They were trying to control my image by minimizing my involvement and preventing me from certain areas.
