Do you think hypergamy is causing young men to attend more socializing events?

I was reading about this young man who attended an event that was evidently advertised as a path to sexual interaction, and it got me interested:

An end-of-summer celebration on Boston Harbor turned tragic for a young Peabody man when he plummeted to his death from a “Get Lei’D At Sea” cruise Saturday night, triggering a frantic search by air and sea to find him in the pitch darkness.

my opinion: It seems that in a simpler time, men didn't have to attend such events, as such men used to be bombarded by offers to ask out Mary Jane Rottencrotch. Now, it seems that men aren't served up these dating opportunities, and therefore have to go to socializing events - that evidently prey on the sexual frustration of such men - to get such dating opportunities.

In the 1940's-50's in good ole Midwest USA, my grandparents and great uncles all attended organized dances that served as social events so young men and women could meet/interact. School dances used to be a big thing as well. Seems to me the social functions have just changed, men have had to pursue women since the beginning of time, its just that they have so many options these days that men probably don't have it as easy as they once did.

I dont think the average man under 30s would attentd expensive overcrowded place if it wasnt for the fact that he thinks he has a shot with women there.

Once most of them wise up or their libido drop somehow they all disappear from the socializing scene...guess why there are no single parties over 40 or if there are no more than 10% of people attending are males.

I guess its a mix of wising up,m lower libido and lower attractivness of women attending.

So yeah I believe the socializing bubble is due to the current state of modern dating.

Too bad nobody tells the average man that there is no partecipation prize in such race and that the winner already won even before the event.

I think it's the lower level of attractiveness. Men will spend a lot of money on expensive clubbing because there is the chance of meeting a few of the hotties, but if there are no hotties around, men will not even go for free (they might go for free beer, LOL).

Nice guys don't finish last, they don't even qualify for the race!

These events are just like job interviews. Second place is first loser.

Of course they don't tell the average guy these events wind up being sausagefests, and the women there are all looking for Chad, Tyrone, Antonio, Hiroshi, Punji, Vladimir, and Fabio.

And the women that go there only want these guys, and complain when they can't get them!
