Losing 40 lb

I'm about 40 lb overweight and want to lose the weight without losing too much muscle mass. I can do cardio while reducing how much I eat. The tough part for me is cutting out things like pizza out of my diet. Is it possible to try something like intermittent fasting and cutting calories while still keeping some if the junk?

Ultimately I would rather lose the weight so if I have to cut the junk I will, but if intermittent fasting and caloric deficit is enough please let me know.

The other question I had was in regard to not losing too much muscle mass. Will weight training curb some if the muscle loss that occurs?

Drop carbs to 150 or under. Do 30 min of cardio a day. 3-5 days of weights to keep muscle. You'll drop 2-3 lbs a week.

Do you have the control to not overeat pizza? i doubt it. drop that crap and eat healthy. Yes, you can eat pizza every single day and lose weight, you are also going to feel terrible. Eat foods that are going not only meet your MACRO goals but also your MICRO goals. fruits, veges, nuts, fish, lean meats. These will do wonders for your energy while you are trying to cut. My little brother was actually a bodybuilder and he would cut on mcdonalds and taco bell. But, he hated eating food and to meet his macro goals that's what he did. For most of us we are not that lucky. Make better food choices with some self control, good luck.
