wait... that was your "welp" moment with the bible? Not the fact that the biblical god is a megalomaniacal psychopathic and fragile dictator who is documented as being responsible for 25 million murders? Not the fact that there is literally zero evidence or proof for any of the absurd metaphysical claims stated from the very beginning of the bible to the very end of the bible? Not the fact that there are inconsistencies blatantly written throughout the entire text? And not even the fact that it was written by malnourished desert dwellers 2000 years ago who thought the universe revolved around earth? It is a text of antiquity, and a not very impressive one at that.

All kinds of interesting things going on here. I get your point, but just because something happens in the Bible doesn't mean it gets a stamp of approval. Humans regularly engage in unsavory behavior, and the people and stories in the Bible are no exception.

I guess you're questioning why Lot and his daughters were saved when they were capable of this. First off, scriptually God credits faith as righteousness. Secondly, maybe God saved the daughters for Lot's sake?

But if someone is going to argue that Lot is not guilty here because he was drunk, that goes against the present double standard where only women are absolved of their sexual activities because of alcohol.

Middle Eastern values regarding hospitality can be kind of strange. If you accept a guest into your house, you take responsibility for him and his safety. This kind of thing sounds crazy to our ears, but maybe we should also consider that in ancient times, female lives were not valued as much as men's. They say even today, female babies are unwanted and killed in China. It's hard to take a culture's values from thousands of years ago and try to fit them into our present day.

You know why? Because women are expected to leave the family of birth when they get married .... so they become ''responsible'' of the ''in laws'' ... her new family.... Thus, if you have a woman for child... she won't be there to take care of you when you old... thus a boy is prefered... also a boy has no ''limit'' to his career choices 1) Lawyer 2) Engineer 3) Doctor.

That's pretty much for all Mid-Eastern - Asian countries today and Europe-North American until the 1960

Good point. Boys also made for better labor to work the land in ancient times.
